Questions to ask the Camp Director

Always speak with the camp director before attending camp, or prior to sending a camper. Here are a few questions that will help you assess your requirements, and the requirements for your camper.

Accredited camping associations will encourage you to ask camp directors variations of the following questions, of course you should ask as many questions about the camp that you would like, and always feel free to ask specific questions about your child:

  • What is your background in camping?
  • What is your camp's philosophy?
  • What is your ratio of campers to staff?
  • What are the ages of your camp staff? (Average)
  • What percentages of your campers return each year?
  • What provisions are made for campers with special needs?
  • How will my child get to and from the camp?
  • Do you offer special meals? Vegetarian, Peanut Allergy etc?
