Forget eating your veggies - play with them instead! Kids can make all their Veggie Tales friends into a summer game of croquet with this corrugated plastic craft.
What you'll need:
- White corrugated plastic
- Blue corrugated plastic
- Black "Painters" paint marker
- Extremely sharp scissors
- Pencil
- Scotch brand Mounting Tape
- Wire coat hanger
- Wire cutters
- 3-4" plastic balls in different colors
- Inexpensive plastic golf clubs
How to make it:
- Use a pencil and draw the shape shown on the blue corrugated plastic. Include stem and hole in mouth. Note: When you are drawing the shape, make sure that the lines in the plastic are vertical. This is so the hanger will go in easily when the project is finished.
- Cut out the shape you just drew.
- Cut an oval from the blue corrugated plastic that is about 3 inches wide and 2.5 inches long.
- Cut out 2 oval eyes from the white corrugated plastic that are about 2.5 inches long and 2 inches wide. Make them kind of lopsided.
- Using the mounting tape, attach the eyes and nose to the front of the blue character.
- Use the black paint marker to draw the inside of the eyes.
- Use the wire cutters and cut the hook off of the wire hanger.
- Bend the hanger into a U-shape.
- Push it down through the blue corrugated plastic so it comes out through the bottom. Push it into the ground.
Tips:
You can also use regular cardboard and paint it if you can't get corrugated plastic, but it won't be as durable. Corrugated plastic is made by several manufacturers. It is known as Stratocore or Coreplast, along with other names. Check the local Hobby Lobby.
