Description:
ACEREADER is a tool for learning to read faster on and off the computer. Reading faster can result in better comprehension. AceReader helps to break 2 habits: subvocalization (pronouncing the words in your mind while reading), and re-reading (letting eyes wander back over text previously read). Any text can be read from the clipboard or a file. The demo uses the program's Readme information. Set reading speed and other options, read a text and then take a test. The demo comes with 6 tests, from grade 2 to grade 11 levels. The full version comes with 200 stories and associated tests. Rapid serial visual presentation (RSVP) mode displays text in the center of the text area, so that eyes do not need to move. In Tachistoscopic scroll presentation (TSP), text display forces the reader's eyes to move just as in normal reading. This trains reading in a normal fashion at higher speeds. Text font and background color can be modified to help the visually impaired. Slower speeds and the ability to burst words one sentence at a time can help readers with dyslexia. It can also be useful in memorizing text. Use this to work on reading speed and then take a test of comprehension!
