BUILD A COMET

This is a Lesson Launcher in PDF format. It introduces comets, discusses their origin in the Oort Cloud and talks about some of the famous ones like Comet Halley. Both teacher notes and a student worksheet are included.

Instructions indicate how to simulate a comet using dry ice, ammonia, syrup and alcohol, and carry out an experiment to understand the effect of the sun (using a hairdryer) on a real comet. They suggest safety precautions in working with supercool substances like dry ice.
