Description:

FORCES OF THE WILD is a Teacher's Guide developed for use with Public Television's NATURE series. It is about the efforts of scientists to understand the effects of powerful natural forces on the Earth.

Each lesson contains an overview of the program to which it relates, a Before Viewing activity, vocabulary, discussion questions, suggested resources and a student worksheet. Programs include 'In the Beginning' (origins of the solar system), 'Perpetual Motion' (impact of wind and water), 'Heavenly Partners' (seasons and tides), 'Living Dangerously' (dramatic changes) and 'Playing with Fire' (studying earthquakes and volcanoes).

These educational guides are intended to work with the NATURE series, but could also be useful on their own to explore the ideas and the educational resources suggested.
