MAPPING BIODIVERSITY highlights the amazing diversity of life around the world and how scientists survey and map ecoregions. The World Wildlife Fund Global 200 Map shows vulnerable ecoregions around the world.

The activity uses Ecoregion Species Cards, an Ecoregion At a Glance Map and Secret Message Cards. There are 3 species that live together in each ecoregion. Students use the information written on each card to find the other 2 members of their ecoregion, and identify the area where all 3 species belong. They then present their ecoregion to the class.

Some of the Ecoregion Cards have letters in bold and underlined. Kids are asked to answer questions in Secret Message Cards by relating them to special letters in Ecoregion Cards, and then unscrambling the letters to find the answer.

This activity is both fun and very informative!
