READING FOR CRITICAL THINKING - LEVEL A Work on reading comprehension skills in this game. Start by reading an informative paragraph, for example about the sea cucumber or the invention of the telephone. Then answer a series of questions on it. Vocabulary questions ask you to choose the best replacement for, or definition of, a word from 4 multiple choice answers. To answer comprehension questions, pick the best title for the paragraph, or choose a sentence that could logically belong in it, a sentence to best complete it, or one that tells something not explicitly stated in the paragraph. Next pick 2 out of 4 words that summarize what the paragraph is about. Finally fill in a small crossword puzzle with words relating to the paragraph. Click on Help at any time to get suggestions on how to find the correct answer. If you make a mistake the program explains why it is incorrect and lets you try again. After a correct answer at any one of these steps, make a guess at a 4 digit number in the Code Cracker game (like Master Mind). Break the computer's code! There is not much available to work on reading comprehension. This program is very well done, with fun and interesting information in the paragraphs chosen.
