RESPONSIVE WRITING This helps you to write a paragraph about a book, story or an article that you have read. The program leads you through writing down ideas, then sentences and finally organizing them into a paragraph. Topics suggested are: a newspaper article, column or feature; a short story, biography or non-fiction book; a character in a novel, or an aspect of a novel that evokes strong feelings. Each of the topics is explained. The program leads you through the writing stages. Work on the topic by pre-writing ideas (notes), writing the topic sentence, writing the body (prompted by your notes), organizing your material, conclusions, various types of editing, proofreading and publishing. There are detailed suggestions to make your text more interesting to read, for example use of verbs that are lively or nouns that are specific. Proofreading suggestions are very clear. The only flaw in the program is that full sentences are not visible in the paragraph summary, though they do come up in a window when selected for editing. This is an excellent way to develop writing skills. The program prompts you to develop a paragraph in response to a particular topic. It asks for ideas and sentence development and provides relevant examples and suggestions at every stage. This makes writing easy by leading you through it step by step!
