Description:
Wheels! is a 3D action game in the genre of Duke Nukem, Doom, and a host of others. However, Wheels! has been specifically designed for people with disabilities. This covers:
- practicing joystick skills to become proficient enough to justify a
power wheelchair (hence the name Wheels!). This includes
disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy,
Multiple Sclerosis, and a host of others.
- kids with cognitive disabilities that cannot play mainstream games,
because the games are too fast, violent, and confusing. This
includes disabilities such as Down Syndrome, Developmental
Delay, Mental Retardation, and a host of others.
- IntelliKeys users that cannot operate anything but IntelliKeys.
This may include either category above.
The biggest thing to add is that Wheels! is fun. Kids can explore a 3-D school-like environment
where crazy clowns will try to hit them with cream pies. They can pick up cream pies and throw them at
the clowns to get rid of them, and need to manover around the maze-like environment, looking for
the key and the way out. WIth several levels of difficulty, the game is well suited to all levels of players.
The demo version has only the first level of mazes with the level set to easy. This still gives a
lot of fun play - arrow keys to move, space to throw, and the return key operates things like locks
and game saving stations.
