Description:

ENTER THE WORLD OF THE NATURALIST is a Teacher's Guide developed for use with Public Television's NATURE series. It is all about the way a very young animal learns to live in the world around it, and relates to 5 NATURE programs: Echo of the Elephants; Jane Goodall's Wild Chimpanzees; Ghost Bear; Born to Run; and Warts and All.

Each lesson contains an overview of the program to which it relates, a Before Viewing activity, vocabulary, suggested reading, an After Viewing activity and a student worksheet. 'Echo of the Elephants' is about how young elephants learn survival skills from their close-knit family. 'Wild Chimpanzees' covers family interactions in chimpanzee society. 'Ghost Bear' explains the survival of the white black bear on an isolated island. 'Born to Run' covers young Thomson's gazelles. 'Warts and All' tells about the nurturing that goes on in warthog families.

These educational guides are intended to work with the NATURE series, but could also be useful on their own to explore the ideas and the educational resources suggested.
