The Writing Well is a paper-based product which provides black-line master sets of writing prompts with grade-level assessment. The front side of each sheet gives a prompt with a set of vocabulary words that will help students start writing. What makes The Writing Well unique is that the back side of each sheet provides a set of evaluation descriptors so that both teacher and student can evaluate the piece and reflect on it.

The Writing Well weaves assessment and instruction together. One activity sheet is included (for each of grades 1-4, 5-8, and 9-12) in the download. The full version includes masters for each of 8 thematic units - Phonics Plus, All About Me, Sports, Seasons, Travel, The Senses, Famous People and Holidays.
