Description:
This is an Educator's Guide developed for National Wildlife Week (April 18-24, 1999). Both English and Spanish versions are available. Its focus is Endangered Species. Get to know nine animals - Attwater's Prairie Chicken, Karner Blue Butterfly, Bald Eagle, Gray Wolf, Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle, Arroyo Toad, Chinook Salmon, Indiana Bat and the Red-cockaded Woodpecker. There is background information on each species, what is being done to foster species recovery, an example of environmental stewardship, and a learning activity. For example, the objective of the 'Big Bad Wolf' activity is to apply critical thinking skills in the interpretation of literature. Grade levels are identified for each activity - they cover K-12.
