Description:
SAFEKIDS NAPERVILLE PRESENTATION Microsoft, in cooperation with the Naperville (Ill.) Police Department's Internet Crimes Unit (NPD) and the Illinois Attorney General's Internet Task Force, created the Safekids Web to help parents and educators teach children the rules of the road for safe exploration on the net. Download either the basic slide presentation or one with narration (note that the narrated version is a large download). It was developed by detectives who specialize in Internet crimes. If you don't have PowerPoint, download the Viewer to see the presentation. A Teacher's Training Guide is also available online. This presentation is aimed at older kids, parents and teachers. It recommends establishing family and school rules for use of the Internet, and encourages good citizenship when using the computer, for example by not sharing software. However the main focus of the presentation is on chatroom behavior and the risks of inadvertently giving information to predators. If you are using chatrooms or have kids doing so, learn what to avoid saying and get streetsmart on the Internet!
