PASO PARTNERS BILINGUAL INSTRUCTION (3) These are documents in PDF format. They contain lesson sets aimed at grade 3 students - Matter (60 pages), Sound (60 pages) and Simple Machines (55 pages). There are also Spanish versions - La Materia (9 pages), El Sonido (10 pages) and Las M·quinas Sencillas (8 pages). There is background information and suggested reading as well as activities in language arts, mathematics and science. For example the Matter document includes an activity (Chemical Change) in which students dissolve both boiled and fresh eggs in vinegar to see what happens. These are part of 'Integrating Mathematics, Science and Language: An Instructional Program', a bilingual curriculum and resources guide developed by Paso Partners. The resource is designed to help elementary school teachers organize their classrooms and instructional activities in order to increase achievement of Hispanic primary-grade children whose first language is not English.
