Put a little magic in your invitation! You'll find some invitations on our Birthday Printables page, and even more cards Kaboose's Wizard Coloring and Cards give you a quick way to invite all your friends over for some fun and games. Or make some 'parchment' from DLTK's Fantasy Crafts and write your invitations on that.

A black vinyl table cloth with gold paper plates and cups promise to be elegant and convenient. Glow in the dark stars on your ceiling and lots of candles will add to the mood. Got to have balloons, but make them black, purple and gold with lots of curly ribbon and star confetti inside.

Set a few All Flavor Jelly Bean Cauldron's around the room in case your guests get the munchies. Fill with your favorite candies and treats.

Want something different to hold those party favors? Make one of these great Kaboose Wizard Craft ideas. Cauldron Broom and Wand (Pencil) Holder, Goblet, or Wizard Pencil Keeper. Personalize by adding the child's name to the front and you have an instant place setting as well.

Fill the party favor container of your choice, with a couple of these cool Pencil Wands and Pencil Brooms - you can also set up a table to let your guests make their own while at the party. Add some of our edible crafts to fill in the gaps. Chocolate Covered Frogs, wrapped in cellophane, along with a couple of Edible Wands will make it all complete. For an extra treat consider making up these Wizard Cone Treats and freezing them in advance.

Keep the mystery alive with a few games and activities. Utilize Kaboose's Magical Creatures in a game of Who Am I? Tape the name of one of these magical characters on the back of each child as they walk through the door. Throughout the party they may ask yes or no questions to try to figure out who they are. Before the party is through sit down and have the children go around the room guessing who they are. If they are incorrect continue giving them clues until they figure out who they are.

Magical Creatures

Magical Creatures also offers some great resource suggestions. You may want to consider doing a bit of storytelling at the party.

Entertain and teach with the Magic Potion trick. Provide each child with a Cauldron, that can later become a Desk Accessory, so that they can all give the potion trick a try.

Kaboose also has plenty of links to Illusions and Magic Tricks that you can research and perform at your party. Nothing like a little hocus pocus to keep everyone ooing and ahhing throughout your party.

Magic Tricks

My favorite magic trick is the Unpopable Balloon. Put a piece of invisible scotch tape on the balloon. Show the audience your needle (pop a few balloons so they know it's real). Tell them you will now stick the needle into the balloon WITHOUT popping it! Make sure the needle goes into the taped area of the balloon. When the balloon doesn't pop be prepared for everyone to ask, "How did you do that"? Remember, a magician never reveals his/her secrets!

If you would like to focus on the popular Harry Potter books check out our Harry Potter Links for ideas and suggestions. You might consider inviting your guests to come as their favorite character. The guest of honor, or parent in charge, may want to make this easy Harry Potter Costume to wear.

Nothing left but the cake. A sheet cake, frosted, and decorated with wizard items will be a hit. Star garland, star cookies, or a magic wand are just a few suggestions. Or you can check out this fancy wizard cake from NickJr.
