What it is
Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop is a shopping simulation game set in the virtual world of Tamagotchi. Based on the wildly popular Tamagotchi virtual pet that has sold more than 40 million units worldwide since its 1996 debut, this quirky and cute game allows players to open and run their very own boutique stores on a Nintendo DS.

Players help primary Tamagotchi characters like Mametchi, Memetchi or Kuchipatchi set up a shop with the goal of attracting Princess Tamako's attention. If a player can turn their shop into one of the princess' favorites, she will name it a "Royal" shop.

Why it's fun
Like the virtual pets, Corner Shop is fun because of all the different types of play experiences it offers. Players can select from a variety of different stores including a bakery, beauty salon, dental office, flower shop and more. Once the shop is open, players will help their customers by completing mini games with the Nintendo DS stylus.

Players apply makeup, treat cavities and decorate cakes to earn "Gotchi" points, the Tamagotchi currency, and progress towards "royal" shop status. Shop interiors can be customized and cute Tamagotchi characters will make appearances throughout the game.

Secret codes are hidden throughout the game that allow players to unlock items for Tamagotchi Connection Version 3 virtual pets.

Who's going to love it
Fans of the egg-shaped toy that simulates the life cycle of a real pet are going to love this opportunity to expand the interaction they have with their treasured pets.

Originally, girls made up the majority of those fans but Bandai tells us that more boys are getting into the virtual pet craze than ever before. The latest version of the toy will feature many designs geared towards both boys and girls.

Nonetheless, we still believe that the most passionate players of this game will be girls but it's suitable for both genders.

What to be aware of
While Corner Shop is a single player game, the Nintendo DS' wireless technology allows players to "connect" with other players and swap items.

Unlike the virtual pet toy, Corner Shop does not require the player to care for and nurture a pet.
