Carrot Crazy

Platform: Game Boy Color
ESRB Rating: E - Everyone

If it's colors and graphics you look for in (Game Boy Color) games, well, then this game is definitely for you. The graphics are very nicely done; bright and varied colors inhabit the five different scenarios. I even feel that Infogrames might have emphasized too much on the graphical aspects. The animations are also nicely done, albeit quite repetitive. Yosemite Sam or Elmer Fudd will shoot and walk around. The Tasmanian Devil will spin and spin and spin some more. Hippos, barrels, bicycles, and numerous other types of locomotion animate repetitively.

Don't get me wrong here, it is enjoyable to play once in a while. There simply isn't enough variety of gameplay in this game for it to offer a new challenge at every level. Items you collect range from regular carrots which increase your ability to staylonger in the air, to super-carrots that make you fly, to the letters "E-X-T-R-A" with which, if all collected, can make you access to an extra level where you can win a life. Each level (Treasure Island, Looney Town, Tasmanian Devil's Zoo, The Space Station, and Elmer Fudd's Forest), are composed of three sub-levels: two 'platformy' and regular levels, and then a final one in which the screen moves and you must follow it until the boss appears.

The challenge is kept at a minimum for a younger audience, I know my brother in Lower School told me he thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall, a decent game for younger players, diverting, but not too difficult.
