Dreamcast (hardware)

Sega's Dreamcast is smaller than the N64 or Playstation but includes SO much! The basic unit comes with a controller, 56K modem and web browser CD with special discounts for new Internet connections. I configured it to use a dial-up account very quickly and was surfing in no time.

The number and range of titles released at the Dreamcast launch is unprecedented as is the.nearly $98 million in sales within 24 hours of its debut, and the cash registers at game stores are ringing up sales almost as fast as Sonic scoots along the beach.

If I didn't already have one, this would be on MY wanted list for a birthday or Christmas gift!

The VMU can be purchased separately and slides into the controller - its purpose is to save games, but it also has a small screen that displays differently depending upon the game being played. For instance, in Sonic Adventure, the Chao characters can be downloaded and played with away from the Dreamcast.

Dreamcast features faster gameplay, shorter loading times and more FUN! Sega is in the right place at the right time, contrary to what many in the videogame industry have predicted.
