Gex: Enter the Gecko is a 3D sequel to the very well-received 2D Gex on several platforms. The basic plot line is that Gex, a gecko, must enter the TV world of an evil entity known as Rez. In doing so, Gex encounters various TV and movie genres such as westerns, cartoons, and sci-fi. Gex is chock full of one-liners courtesy of comedian Dana Gould. There are plenty of sound effects, and the music in each level comes very close to the movie or TV show it mimics while still not violating copyright laws.

With a 3D platformer such as Gex, control is one of the most important aspects to its success, and Gex achieves this most of the time. Gex moves around in 3D with the camera staying, usually, behind him. The user can set the camera to always follow (Auto), kinda follow (Semi-Auto), or stay where you put it (Manual). The Semi-Auto option is the default and works the best since it follows until the user adjusts it. I played the majority of this game with the standard digital controller, but have recently switched to the Sony Dual Shock. This seems to work even better using one analog stick to control Gex and the other to move the camera.

Overall, Gex: Enter the Gecko is a superb game, with a good, innovative presentation.
