Hey You, Pikachu!

While this program is priced considerably higher than most of the Nintendo games, it includes a Voice Recognition Unit (VRU) so that kids can actually interact with Pikachu. If you've watched the cartoon show, you are aware that Pokémon can say their names, but that's about all. Fortunately, this game includes activities like field trips, fishing, and having picnics.

Pikachu does react to your voice, and it does take time to build the relationship. Don't expect him to dance each time you ask him to, and don't yell at him. If Pikachu doesn't like the way you're behaving, he'll say goodbye and go. At that point, you must return to Ash's room until the next day.

My kids have really enjoyed playing with Pikachu without having to worry about being shocked. Their favorite pastime seems to be fishing for water Pokémon.
