You are in store for endless hours of nonstop fun when you power up your Game Boy Color with Hoyle Card Games. Choose from 14 favorite card game variations and 14 characters to represent you in the game. Hoyle Card Games has the option of one player or two players on a single Game Boy Color system. There is also the ability to compete with another player using the Game Boy Link Cable, another Game Boy Color system, and an additional Hoyle Card Games cartridge.

Hoyle Card Games includes Crazy Eights, Old Maid, Go Fish, Spades, 6 versions of Solitaire, Hearts, War, Cribbage, and Gin Rummy. The onboard help is superior to most help screens I have come across in games. The help area is written in an easy to understand format and explains how to play and how scoring is achieved. I was actually able to learn more about Cribbage through the help screen on the Game Boy Color than I was through board game instructions. I had also not ever played Spades with the bags option (which is the only way to play Spades on this cartridge) and the help was clearly written on how the scoring was done. The game play tips included in the help were a nice addition.

Although I am a Spades and Solitaire fan from way back, I found that I really had a fun time with the Go Fish game. The scene is set around a pond and the fish actually do jump out and into your hand when a player says "Go Fish". One word of advice is if you are going to look away even for a second from the screen to push the START button so that way the play doesn't continue and you miss what cards the other players are looking for. The game will continue without interaction from you until it is your turn so you can miss part of the questions if you're not watching closely.

This game can easily be played by someone with auditory difficulty as I had the music turned down almost the whole time. The music, as is in most Game Boy games our family has played, is quite tinny and just isn't of the same quality you get on your personal computer.

My children have been enjoying the game whenever Mom will give them a chance to play. It's the first Game Boy game that I have totally been engrossed in and they may just have to get Mom her own Game Boy Color if they want their console back! All in all Hoyle Card Games Game Boy cartridge is a very good buy for the money as it covers a wide range of ages from about 7 through adult and has a variety of games to keep everyone in the family waiting to play it.
