Racin' RatzReviewed by Sharon MehlPublished by Mattel Interactive/Tyco Platform: Game Boy Color ESRB Rating: E - Everyone
There are multiple rooms, as in a real house, to race in. You (as Betty or Chris) are controlling the Racin' Ratz from your bedroom. You were sent to your room for racing your vehicle in the house and a crystal vase got broken. Does that stop you? No! You can race through mom and dad's bedroom or grandma's, the tree house and deck, the backyard and more! In each level you are to collect certain items that will be missed such as Betty's diary, the cell phone, Dad's toothbrush, and more! The instruction book included with the game advises which items are needed for each level. There is also a handy inventory screen you can access on your Racin' Ratz cartridge. Racin' Ratz has surprisingly clear graphics and screens are continuous and seamless. This game is not just a race around and grab things game...not at all! There are hazards you must avoid, such as a vacuum cleaner, cats (of course), robots, and more! This game is a strategy game even more than it is a racing game as you must figure out how to get on top of a dresser to retrieve an item and how you can use the power-ups to help you. There are also 10 bonus games hidden within the levels of Racin' Ratz. The object of the bonus games is to collect all 3 items before the time runs out so you can achieve a 100% game completion. We had three testers ages 5, 7, and 12 playing the game. Therefore, based on our experience, we recommend that the minimum age to play Racin' Ratz would be about 7 years old. If you like strategy and racing games, then race on in and pick up a copy of Racin' Ratz. Racin' Ratz is only for Game Boy Color. | |||||||||||||||||||||
