Description:

Bob the Builder: Can we Fix it? is taken from the popular children's show by the same name. Join Bob, Wendy, and all of the gang as they fix things, celebrate a birthday, and rescue hedgehogs in this charming title. Feel free to sing along as you read, "Bob the Builder, can we fix it? Bob the Builder, YES, WE CAN!" (The theme song will get stuck in your head, I guarantee it -- you have been forewarned.) The game begins as we join Wendy in the office. Clicking on different items in the room takes us to different adventures. Hedgehogs are on the loose and they are in danger! Clicking on the mail tray takes us to Help the Hedgehogs (where we round 'em up) and Tunnel Time (where we build them a "subway" to go under the road.) Wanna race? Click on the diary to "become" Scoop or Dizzy as they go three laps against Travis. Choose the phone if you want to put together radiators and fix leaks with Bob and Wendy. Picking the computer allows you to first knock down a bridge then build a new one. The crows are swarming poor Spud! Help him chase them away, racing against the clock after you click on the memo on the corkboard. Clicking on the fax takes us to Bubble Trouble where we must pop the emerging bubbles on the ground before the clock runs out. Happy Birthday, Wendy! Click on the party invitation on the memo board to decorate her cake and take her dancing (it's a hoe-down!). Pilchard is forever missing, it seems. Almost every one of the above-mentioned games has a "Where's Pilchard?" section where we help Wendy locate her missing cat.

Features:

  • Parental Options (sound setup and help)
  • Three difficulty levels
  • Ability to use mouse or keyboard to maneuver

Technical Aspects:

This game installed and ran smoothly. The graphics are very similar to the ones used on the television program.

Report and Conclusions:

Bob the Builder, did we like it? Bob the Builder, yes we did! My four year old son was especially enamored of this title, being that he is a fan of the show. I would suggest this game for three to five year olds -- some older children could also enjoy it if they are aware of the option to change difficulty levels. It's sweet, mild, totally non-violent fun. When Bob says, "Shall we have another go?" your child will most probably respond with a resounding, "Yes!"
