Bubble Land Word Discovery will have kids exploring locations such as a pet store, playground, classroom, zoo, beach, hospital, toy store and other environments. When clicked on, the word describing that object is spoken and displayed on the screen, and then an animation plays. Each location offers four activities designed to enhance language skills.

Technical Aspects:

This title did not work with autorun, but installed with no problems. We've tried it on a 486-66, Pentium 100 and Pentium 200MMX, and it ran without any glitches or other errors on all three systems. The graphics are all bright and in keeping with the amusing animations and sounds.

Report and Conclusions:

Bubble Land Word Discovery is designed for children in grades PreK through 2, with multi-level comprehensive activities they'll enjoy. Record keeping is automatic, as the program graphs learning gains in each section. My 5 year old daughter has enjoyed playing the games, which are phonics-based, and our 3 year old has enjoyed clicking around to see the words and watch the animations. We are also using the non-computer activities included in the excellent teacher's manual, and have had quite a bit of fun with that, as well.
