Technical Aspects:Installation was easy. The program pretty much runs on its own.Report and Conclusions:I was really impressed that this application also worked with ICQ! Since ICQ is in Real Time messaging, I thought for sure it would slip by Cyber Sentinel. Of course, I felt a need to test it. It immediately threw up a warning screen and performed a screen capture of the offending ICQ message. My favorite feature of Cyber Sentinel is the ability to view offending screen shots for two reasons: 1) You can see if it is really an offending site, or if the library configuration needs to be changed, 2) You can see what your child is being exposed--or almost exposed to!I would imagine that if a child found a site that was ALL graphics and NO words, it could slip by this software. One nice feature is the ability to enter part of your telephone number, address, or credit card number and Cyber Sentinel will make sure it does not transfer over the internet AND screen capture the screen that the information was being input on! By inputting only part of the number, it will be certain to catch different ways that the number can be input (i.e. 888-555-6666 or 8885556666). All this is within a password secured area that only the parent can access. You can run Cyber Sentinel using a stealth mode without a child being aware of it's presence. I was told by Cyber Sentinel Technical Support that they are very careful not to screen out medical sites. Cyber Sentinel works with content, i.e. phrases, versus single words to screen out potential harmful sites. One thing to keep in mind, is the limit of 50 screen captures could take up to 100 MB of disk space. Be sure to periodically clean out the screen capture database. I was also told that upgrades are at a reduced rate, and bug fixes are free. The nice feature about Cyber Sentinel is that it generally runs itself. It is unlike other software I have found that require frequent downloads and updating of website addresses. There is not a monthly fee to keep it updated and until predators find a way around it's security, it should run itself on the purchase price alone. I found Cyber Sentinel to be well worth the money! | ||||||||||||||||||||||
