Description:

Enter into the laboratory and get ready to learn about weather with Professor Labcoat and his sidekick Ray. Start off with the first of nine lessons covering topics such as rain, seasons, wind or predicting the weather. Read along with Ray or choose to read by yourself. After each lesson will come a short quiz to see how much you remember about what you have read. If you need to take notes along the way, click on the journal icon.

Learn About Earth Science - Weather is not all work, it also provides a little fun packaged in with the educational aspect. Listen to the jukebox and watch a little movie clip about weather. Play a few matching games or play the sequencing game by placing the pictures in the correct order of how they happened. How about creating a picture about today's weather in an easy use format?

After each lesson is completed click on the printer icon and print off a certificate of acknowledgment.

Technical Aspects:

Loaded with no problems on my system, a Pentium 200 MHz with 32 MB RAM. Ran smoothly with colorful graphics and clear sound.

Report and Conclusions:

As a teacher I can see the potential of this program when using it over a period of time with a class of students. But for individual use it has a short shelf life. I tested the program with my 8 year-old son. He went through it with no difficulty in a very short time and said there was not much to do. Once the program is complete there really is no reason to go through it again.

As I stated above, for schools or home schooling with several students, combining the lesson plans provided in the Teachers Guide this program can become an asset to the science class.
