Technical Aspects:The first CD seemed to start and stop as if it was having a hard time to install. It did, however, install with no problems encountered.Report and Conclusion:This software offers great graphics and cute characters. When the software was tested on the children (ages 3 - 7), they were very excited to see the Playroom filled with "cool" toys. They couldn't wait to get started. Although the activities were very educational, they lacked "spunk." One big downfall is that CD #1 was slow to change screens, this made the children very restless as young children do not have long attention spans. Due to this, they did not spend very much time with each activity or CD. They did however, spend more time with Disk 2 as it was faster at changing screens. My 6 & 7 year olds both commented on how slow the first CD was . The program offers three levels of play. The levels have to be changed manually; they do not adjust with your child's progress. The program has its own screensaver as well, which is really cute. When using the activities, there was no clear indication on where to go to have the instructions repeated. Also, if a child accidentally clicks on the door of the Playhouse, the program does not double check that they want to leave, they are just taken outside which can be frustrating for a young child. In summary the software was educational and had great graphics, but from my observation and experience with this software, children will only play with it for short periods of time and not for hours as indicated on the box. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
