Technical Aspects:We tried it on an AMD-K6/400 with 96 mb RAM. The game runs directly from the CD in Windows 98. The illustration on the binder cover looks like it might be more like a "game". The illustration on the cover is never seen in the software itself, but the same type of graphics are used. The majority of the software does not require the soundcard, so it certainly could be used by hearing impaired users. There is the option of using a microphone to create mysteries and add to the fun.The actual screens are uncluttered and attractive in terms of color and interest. It is not very difficult to learn to use, but it helps to read the manual first. Tom Snyder Productions has done a great job of creating a manual which is helpful and easy to go through. Report and Conclusions:Neighborhood Map Machine kept my children interested for as long as I was there with them (ages 4 and 7). They were not interested in exploring it by themselves in the create mode, but found the mystery which I created for them fun and not too difficult. This is a really great piece, more suitable to a school environment rather than something the children would use on their own at home. Neighborhood Map Machine would also be great to be used in libraries. The cost is more than anyone would spend for home, but I would highly recommend it for school use due to its simple format and no-problem installation. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
