More of an interactive movie than a game, Rockett's First Dance involves decisions at key points during the game, plus fun school lockers where insights can be gained into each student's personal life. Secret glasses give even more clues to what everyone is thinking about, and a photo album can be compiled by taking pictures during the action. One funny note, there is a picture gallery of 'student of the month' for each month, which look suspiciously like programmers and producers. Features:
Technical Aspects:Installation was a breeze, and everything ran well. The animation is done in large, comic style, and the kids pretty much look like young teens. All the dialogue is spoken, not written.Report and Conclusions:My daughters are big Purple Moon fans, so they love these games. The oldest is 13, but she is still attracted to them, and kept bugging me for months to buy this latest installment in the Rockett school adventures. She popped it into the computer right when we got home, and has enjoyed it.However, when asked, she did say that there didn't seem to be as many decision points as in previous games, and the story appeared to be shorter. This was also my impression when I played it through. Even so, she gave it an enthusiastic thumbs up. The bottom line is that if you have girls who really like Rockett, then this is sure to please. If they've never played a Rockett game, then it will depend on whether they like endlessly hashing out the day's events, on the lines of "well, she said this, then I said this, and can you believe what that boy said?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||
