That's History: An Interactive Adventure in the PastReviewed by Jannean MuehlfeldPublished by VTechSoft
Description:
This is a fact finding software package that allows you to play while you learn. The game contains different activities that allow the learner to read about the history of places like ancient Rome, the Yang Dynasty, and the Incas. They can travel back in time with the activity Lost in Time and design their own Time Capsule and print out a letter to people of the future. They can also learn about how people lived by watching the comic strip characters Cameraman and Otter compare today's technology to survival techniques people used in the past. By bringing math into the history lesson, the software provides the learner with information about the development of our present Arabic number system as well as the number systems used by the Mayans and Romans. Then finally the learner can test their knowledge with a trivia game called "What's it For?". This game is modeled after the game Jeopardy.
Features:
Technical Aspects:This game was easy to install. I just popped the CD in and the installation program came up on the screen. The only problem I have run into is the locking up of my computer. It seems to like to hog the system, and you may want to close out all other programs before opening this software up. One time I had to restart the computer to get it to run correctly after it locked me out.
Report and Conclusions:This is a great way to learn historical details about the world we live in. Trivia buffs will especially get a kick out of it. The only fault I found is that it doesn't tell you what the right answer is when you get something wrong. I like to learn from my mistakes. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
